The Clayoquot Field Station at Tofino Botanical Gardens is a dormitory-style facility that can accommodate up to 32 guests. Our mission is to initiate, encourage and enable research, education and conversations that will help people to understand how to live in a place without diminishing it. We are located at the gateway to the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, providing an ideal setting for research and education in the region.

CFS uses the phrase "K through E", or Kindergarten through Elderhostel, describing our intention to welcome a diverse group of learning guests.

The facility provides an affordable venue for students, researchers and visitors engaged in learning and discovery. Researchers and students are priority visitors at CFS. We also welcome guests and travelers to Tofino who are interested in staying in hostel style accommodations with an educational focus.

The Clayoquot Field Station is an interdisciplinary facility. We encourage interactions between students and researchers, writers, artists; people who work in the realm of ideas. These interactions can take place outside, in the classroom and, perhaps most importantly, in the dining room, the garden, a rowboat, or on the mudflats.
