Whale Watching
The Whale Centre, in Tofino BC, offers whale watching tours on our sturdy but adventurous 30ft Boston Whalers with a centre consol, which allows our guides to give you an educational commentary throughout the trip.
Most often viewed are the Pacific Grey Whales either migrating or as summer residents. Watch these majestic creatures dive, spout, breach and spy hop in their marine environment. Humpback Whales are seen throughout the season as well as Orca Whales (Killer Whales). There are a number of other animals which may be seen on our tours: harbour seals, eagles, sea lions, porpoises, sea otters, puffins, murrelets, cormorants and more!
Hot Springs
Hot springs soak and whales all in one! The Whale Centre’s signature tour is on our 30ft covered boat “Hootla - Kootla.” The thermal springs are located 1.5 hours north of Tofino in Hot Springs Cove. Disembark at the dock and make a 20-minute trek on a cedar boardwalk through old growth rainforest to the mineral rich pools and cascading waterfall. This 6 – 7 hour tour is a day excursion for all ages! There are a number of other animals which may be seen on our tours: harbour seals, eagles, sea lions, porpoises, sea otters, puffins, murrelets, cormorants and more!
Bear Watching
The Whale Centre offers black bear watching in the protected and calm waters of Clayoquot Sound, in Tofino British Columbia, on our 30ft open Boston Whalers. These two-hour adventure cruises allow you to view the black bears roaming the shorelines on the low tides searching for rock crab, shellfish and barnacles to feed on. Departure times change daily and are based on the low tides.
