Eco-tours are growing in popularity and offer visitors a chance to explore the spectacular scenery at Tofino's doorstep. Watch eagles swoop overhead, and if you're lucky, spot a black bear hunting for food on the shore. You may even cross paths with transient gray whales that live in the area. Tofino is known for its long beautiful beaches and towering rainforests. In the winter months, Pacific storms roll into the beaches creating ideal surfing conditions for the more adventurous. Storm watching in itself is a magnificent sight! Sea kayakers will be delighted with the sights and sounds of the waters along Clayoquot Sound and Pacific Rim National Park. Pull your kayak up to the sandy beaches and discover incredible tide communities of sea stars, sea urchins, and many other fascinating saltwater creatures. Pacific Rim National Park and the West Coast Trail are popular desinations for hikers. Reservations are required to maintain the trail.
