Tofino & Ucluelet are accessed by first reaching Vancouver Island. The most common way to reach Vancouver Island is by car via BC Ferries. Alternatively, significant travel time can be saved by booking a direct flight to Tofino from Vancouver, Victoria or Seattle.

Vancouver to Tofino [ map ]

Travel time: 6 hours including ferry (approx)

  1. Take the Nanaimo-bound ferry from Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal in West Vancouver
  2. Once in Nanaimo, follow the signs to Route #19 North (well-marked), you will pass through the town of Parksville
  3. Take Highway #4 West (well-marked)
  4. Once you reach the west side of the Island, a marked junction leads south to Ucluelet or north to Tofino.

Victoria to Tofino [ map ]

Travel time: 4.5 hours (approx)

  1. Travel North along Highway 1
  2. Highway 1 turns into Highway 19, continue past Parksville.
  3. Take Highway #4 West (well-marked)
  4. Once you reach the west side of the Island, a marked junction leads south to Ucluelet or north to Tofino.
